A Few "Five Nights At Freddy's 3" Story Theories Worth Considering
With regards to the story of "Five Nights At Freddy's 3," all that fans can confirm is some cryptic teaser text and a Steam plot description. What's caused quite a bit of debate amongst fans is the fact that the "Fazbear's Fright" attraction "now has one animatronic." Is Salvage really the only foe that players will face throughout the nights?
It's important to remember that in past "Five Nights At Freddy's" games Scott has made the distinction between animatronics that are supposed to be part of the gameplay experience and ones that appear without warning. In "Five Nights At Freddy's" Foxy was supposedly out of order but still managed to scare the crap out of gamers any chance he got. The same is true for various hallucinations like Golden Freddy. They aren't a part of the functioning environment, but they're still a major gameplay factor. Plus, Scott takes care to say that "the attraction" only has one animatronic, leaving several options open for the rest of the game.
What might this mean for the story of "Five Nights At Freddy's 3?" Theories and rumors dictate that series' characters like Bonnie, Marionette and Chica might return in some non-animatronic form. Scott has toyed around with the idea of haunted suits, and there may even be crazed human characters too. At face value Salvage seems like the biggest threat, but history tells us that the story might point to other sinister beings as it develops.
Speaking of Salvage, some folks on YouTube believe that that may be the suit the alleged child killer stole rather than the model of Golden Freddy. This idea has some basis of truth because the Golden Freddy cutscenes of "Five Nights At Freddy's 2" were labeled as "dreams" by Scott. This namesake seems to reinforce the idea that Golden Freddy may not exist at all. It's also worth noticing that Salvage's head features scratches that might be signs of struggle from the children during their murder.
When speaking of the teaser trailer itself, one Redditor posited the idea that Scott uses the clip to call out to returning players. In the video he says "he will come back, he always does." Many folks assumed the purple text to be associated with the series' Purple Man killer, but that may not be the case. After all, if one believes the Purple Man to be a security guard, then that means all of Freddy Fazbear's security staff wears purple. This includes you as a Freddy's Fazbear employee. In short, the reference to always coming back might denote the fact that players play through the game several nights beyond the standard five. As for "having a place for him," the animatronics have been trying to stuff players into suits from day one, haven't they?
